Allegro Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 organization that combines movement instruction with educational and medical expertise, creating a NEW vehicle to teach children with disabilities and enhance their quality of life. The children Allegro serves are individuals with mental retardation, Down Syndrome, orthopedic challenges (wheelchairs and walkers), cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, individuals with learning disabilities, children at-risk, and children with cancer.

Riders with challenges like cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, spina bifida or autism benefit from relationships formed with other students, volunteers and even the horses, whose gentle rhythmic movements closely parallel those of human gaits. Misty Meadows Mitey Riders therapeutic center is fully accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA).
